New Castle County Special Services had electrical studies, including Arc Flash studies performed for their pump stations in order to identify risks and label their electrical equipment with worker safety in mind. The Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace, NFPA 70E states that an arc flash study needs to be reviewed every five years or whenever there is a significant change in the electrical system. Special Services contracted with Duffield to perform that review on 25 pump stations. Since the company that performed the initial studies was no longer in business and the electronic files were not available, Duffield created new models for each station using the latest grid network data from the utility. Duffield generated new arc flash labels and generated reports that compared the original study results to the updated study results – identifying any significant changes.
