The Tri-State Bird Rescue, an internationally recognized nonprofit wildlife rehabilitation organization that cares for nearly 3,000 native wild birds each year, plans to build an approximately 10,000 square foot new Wildlife Response Annex. The state-of-the-art Annex would enable Tri-State’s ability to respond to incidents that adversely affect large numbers of wildlife, such as oil spills or disease outbreaks. In addition to the wash, treatment and husbandry areas of the facility, the proposed Annex building has an education wing and will incorporate many “green” features such as solar panels and rainwater capture.

Duffield was selected by Tri-State Bird Rescue to join the design team to provide natural resource, land development, civil/site engineering and geotechnical engineering services. These services will include taking the proposed site improvements through the land development approval and permitting process, as well as installation of a geothermal test well (300 feet deep), performance of geothermal evaluation, and performance of a geotechnical evaluation of the subsurface soils for building foundation design recommendations.
