Shoaling fans were needed at Magellan’s facility in Wilmington, Delaware. The project was intended to offset maintenance dredging. Duffield provided a baseline ecological evaluation s and sedimentation assessments as part of complying with NEPA requirements for federal permits. The ecological assessments have included sampling to develop estimates of potential entrainment impacts to spawning striped bass and river herring, and potential impacts to endangered species (Atlantic and shortnose sturgeon). As part of these assessments, Duffield developed methods of mitigating potential adverse environmental impacts.
