The Town of Millsboro relies on three elevated storage tanks for water supply. The newest tank’s overflow elevation was 5’-6” too low creating a separate pressure zone and preventing the Town from making use of the tank’s full storage capacity. Distribution system modifications using balancing valves were tested but proved not to be effective solutions. Duffield worked with the Town, subconsultants and a uniquely experienced tank contractor to plan, design and implement a project that raised the tank in place. The Town now has a more sustainable water system with sufficient capacity for domestic and fire flow demands.
